Research on Brain Control Technology and its Applications

Abstract

Just as everyone knows, Brain Control Technology is a new research direction of intelligent robotics in the research area on Advanced Manufacture. Besides of introducing Xi'an Jiaotong University and its Biomechatronics research group, the presentation will show the recent research achievements of Professor Zhang’group on Brain Control Technology mainly as follows. 1) The measurement technology of Electroencephalography/EEG signal; 2) Typical methods of feature extraction and pattern recognition; 3) Concept of Brain Control; 4) Research and progress on Smart Neuro-prosthesis Controlled by EEG; 5) Research and progress on Rehabilitation Robot based on EEG and EMG, etc.

Short Bio

Xiaodong Zhang received the B.E. degree in Energy and Power Engineering from Xi’an Jiaotong University, Xi’an, China, in 1989, and the M.E. and Ph.D. degree in Mechanics from Xi’an Jiaotong University, Xi’an, China, in 1992 and 1996, respectively. From 1996 to 2010，Dr Xiaodong Zhang was a Teacher, and in 1999 promoted as an Associate Professor in school of Mechanical Engineering, Xi’an Jiaotong University, Xi’an, China. From 2001 to 2002, he was a Visiting Scholar about three months in Department of Mechanical and Medical Engineering, University of Bradford, Bradford, UK. From 2003 to 2005, he was a Researcher about two years in School of Mechanical Engineering, Sungkyunkwan University, Korea. In November, 2010, he was a visiting professor about one month Lab on Intelligent robotics, Michigan State University, USA. Since 2011 he has been a Professor, and now is vice director, Institute of Robotics and Intelligent Systems with school of Mechanical Engineering, Xi’an Jiaotong University, Xi’an, China. His recent research interests are Robotics and Intelligent System, Bio-mechatronics technology, EEG/EMG signal processing and its application on robotics, intelligent measurement and control technology, etc.
