Programme Overview

The Master of Science in Engineering in Robotics and Intelligent Systems programme aims to prepare students for a career in robotics engineering. The programme's content includes mechanical design, programming, and integration skills for building, operating, and applying robotic systems. The programme also emphasises teamwork and collaboration, preparing students for the many tasks necessary to accomplish these goals. Upon graduation, students are well-prepared to become independent researchers and engineers, and many will go on to become leaders in robotics research in both academia and industry.

Admissions Requirements

Entrance Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field, with a strong interest in robotics.

- Meet the HKU English language requirement through TOEFL, IELTS, or equivalent test scores.

- Evidence of motivation and potential for success in the programme, as demonstrated through a personal statement, transcripts, and CV.

 

English Language Requirement

Applicants who seek admission on the basis of a qualification from a university or a comparable institution outside Hong Kong of which the language of teaching and/or examination is not English are required to obtain:

  • a score of 550 or above (paper-based test), or 80 or above (internet-based) in the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)*; or
  • a minimum overall band of 6 with no subtest lower than 5.5 in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS); or
  • Grade C or above in the Overseas General Certificate of Education (GCE); or
  • Grade C or above in the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE); or
  • Grade C or above in the Cambridge Test of Proficiency in English Language.

Unless in exceptional circumstances where applicants are exempted from this requirement.
