2024

2023

  • Dr. Svetlana Besklubova received the Best Paper Award at the Annual International Conference for Digital Intelligence Logistics and Supply Chain Management (DILSCM2023) in Shenzhen, China, for her work titled 'Smart Real-Time Warehouse Management System for Small Enterprises,' supervised by Prof. Ray Zhong.
  • Prof. Fangni Zhang and PhD student Zhuoye Zhang received the Qian Xuesen Urban Science Gold Award (Transportation) Nomination Award in 2023, for their research paper “On the joint network equilibrium of parking and travel choices under mixed traffic of shared and private autonomous vehicles” published in Transportation Research Part C: Emerging Technologies.
  • Prof. Fangni Zhang and PhD student Zhuoye Zhang received the Best Paper Award from the 14th Workshop on Computational Transportation Science in 2023, for their research on” Modeling the vehicle parking, charging and vehicle-to-grid services in the era of electric vehicles”.
  • Mr. Jie Lin received the Best Student Paper First Prize from the Annual International Conference for Digital Intelligence Logistics and Supply Chain Management (DILSCM) 2023), for his research on “On urban co-modality: Service network design for a bus-integrated freight transport system” supervised by Prof. Fangni Zhang.
  • Mr. Yizhi Zhen received the Best Student Paper Third Prize from the Annual International Conference for Digital Intelligence Logistics and Supply Chain Management (DILSCM 2023), for his work on “Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Routing Problem with Multiple Public Bus Service Lines” supervised by Prof. Fangni Zhang.
  • Mr. Hin Chung Lam won the Best Student Papers Awards 2023/24 from Logistics & Transportation Division, The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers with a final-year project tilted as “A Smart Waste Plastic Bottle Sorting System Using Computer Vision” supervised by Dr. H.H. Cheung.
  • Dr. S.C. Lin received the Best Paper Award – Second Place in the 18th International Conference on Service Systems and Service Management, 2023.
  • Student teams “Virtus” and “Sapientia” won the 1st runner up and the Best Performance Award, 2nd runner up at the Robocon 2023 - Hong Kong Contest among 14 participating teams from 8 local higher education institutions, supervised by Dr. H.H. Cheung.

2022

  • Mr. Cheung Lok Kan, who graduated from BEng in Industrial Engineering and Logistic Management (IELM) programme in 2021, won the The HKIE LTD – Best Student Papers Awards 2021, which was supervised by Dr. H.H. Cheung.
  • Five-person team of IMSE students, Miss Fonda Maydeline, Miss Febrina Audrey, Mr. Ferrari Vegas Malik, Mr. Park Joon Sung, and Mr. Jawad Amin, mentored by Dr. Jonathan Ng, won the Champion in the CILTHK Student Day 2022 competition.
  • Prof. Fangni Zhang received the Best Area Editor award from the 22nd COTA International Conference of Transportation Professionals, Chinese Overseas Transportation Association in 2022.
  • Mr Jason Wong received the Outstanding Student Project Award (Undergraduate Level) 2021-2022, for his research paper “A feasibility study of immersive virtual reality games for upper limb exercise among healthy individuals of different age groups” by the Hong Kong Ergonomics Society, supervised by Prof. Calvin Or
  • Student team “Sapientia” won the 2nd runner-up and Best Performance Award at Robocon 2022 - Hong Kong Contest among 14 competing teams from seven local tertiary institutions, supervised by Dr. H.H. Cheung.

2021

  • Miss Lee Joe Ann, who graduated from BEng in Industrial Engineering and Logistic Management (IELM) programme in 2021, won the Champion of CILTHK Logistics & Transport Student Final Year Project Award 2021, which was supervised by Dr. H.H. Cheung.

  • Four-person team of IMSE students, Mr. Christian Ongkowijono, Miss Stefani Benedicta, Mr. Kshitij Arora, and Miss Alima Medetova, mentored by Dr. Jonathan Ng, won the Champion in the CILTHK Student Day 2021 competition.

2020

  • Certificate of Second Prize in the 2nd Guangdong Province and Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Innovation Competition of Industrial Engineering: Yang Yishu, Kang Kai and Ray Y. Zhong, "An Analytic Approach for Workers’ Fatigue Examination Using RFID-Enabled Production Data".

2019

  • Certificate of Second Prize in the 1st Guangdong Province and Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Innovation Competition of Industrial Engineering: Kang Kai, Tan Bingqing, Xu Suxiu and Ray Y. Zhong, "Big Data-Based Innovative Planning of Ferry Transpot in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area: The Case of Wanshan Islands in Zhuhai".
  • Best Student Paper Award in the 49th International Conference on Computers & Industrial Engineering (CIE49): Shohin Ahderoff, Xun Xu and Ray Y. Zhong. 
  • Best Student Paper Award of International Journal of Production Research: Ray Y. Zhong, Chen Xu, Chao Chen and George Q. Huang, "Big Data Analytics for Physical Internet-based intelligent manufacturing shop floors".
  • Six-person team of IMSE students, Ms. Felicia Sutanto, Mr. Fernaldy Soegianto, Mr. Ng See Hin, Ms. Rita Aolei Yisang, Mr. Sidharth Pahuja, and Mr. Wu Jian, won the Fifth Louis Vuitton Supply Chain University Contest with its outstanding supply chain strategy. The champion "Team IMSE" was mentored by Dr. Jonathan Ng and Dr. Y.H. Kuo.
  • Mr. Anson Ho Chun-chi won 2019 HKIE MI Division Student Project Competition, Champion.
  • Mr. Fernaldy Soegianto won 2019 HKIE MI Division Student Project Competition, Outstanding Award.
  • Kwok Tsz-kin and Maisie Kwok Tsz-Ling won 2019 HKIE MI Division Student Project Competition, 1st runner-up.

2018

  • LESCM and IELM students formed two groups won the HKIE Young Engineers Programme with the topic “Redesign Power Plant for Next Hundred Year” in 2017/18. LESCM students namely Miss Cheung Fung Mei, Shelton and Miss Chow Ka Yan, Annie joined with students in other disciplines won the 1st Runner-up with the topic “Hainan Wing + Tidal Power generation”. Another four IELM students namely Mr Ho Chun Chi, Mr Lau Siu Yuen, Mr Nip Fung and Mr Yee Wai Lok won the 2nd Runner-up with the topic “Smart Metering” to reduce power reserve margin.
  • Three-person team, Ms. Felicia Sutanto, Mr. Fernaldy Soegianto and Wu Jian won 2018 Smart City Datathon, second runner-up.

2017

  • Mr. Warren Kan Sui Wang, Miss Xanthe Chui Sin Yan and Miss Dorcus Kwok Tsz Wun won the CHAMPIONSHIP of HKIE Young Engineers Programme in March 2017.

  • Four IMSE students Felicia Sutanto, Kwok Ka Ki Kristie, Lo Ching On (Team Leader), Cheung Horace Esmond and Fernaldy Soegianto won the consecutive year of The 2017 CILTHK Student Day 15th Case Competition Championship on 4 March 2017. Their discussion topic is “Do you think if the liners cut the capacity, the carriers industry can be in a better financial status?”  The judges were impressed with our students’ research and analysis skill.

  • Dr. S.C. Lin received the First-Place Best Paper in China Logistics Annual Meeting 2016-2017, “Models and column generation approach for the resource-constrained minimum cost path problem with relays,” Co-authored with X. Li,  P. Tian, and Y. P. Aneja.

2016

  • Four IMSE students TANG Ho Yan, LEE Chun Kit (Team Leader), LO Ching On and LAI Hong Ting, won the Championship of 14th Case Competition in The 2016 CILTHK Student Day on 19 March 2016. Their discussion topic is on whether law enforcement by Mainland officials should be allowed in the cross-border rail link (XRL) of the West Kowloon Terminus.  They deliberated on the viewpoint of the Secretary for Justice and proposed several options of immigration arrangements in the XRL. 
  • Mr. Hailiang Wang, a PhD Candidate at the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering, wins the Championship of the 2016 Hong Kong Institution of Engineers-Safety Specialist Committee Student Project Competition.
  • Best Student Paper Award of The 2016 International Conference of Manufacturing Engineering and Engineering Management- Mr. Y.C. Zhao, Dr. S.H. Choi,  Dr. X.J. Wang and Miss A. Qiao for the paper entitled "Joint Decision on Low-carbon Investment and Production Quantity in Make-to-Stock Manufacturing."
  • Most highly cited and highly influential papers recognized by Emeralf Group Publishing Limited in 2016. Prof. George Huang as the author of "Hybrid Flow shop scheduling considering machine electricity consumption costs" - International Journal of Production Economics.

2015

  • Faculty KE Awards 2015, The University of Hong Kong - Knowledge Exchange - Knowledge Exchange Awards (KE) 2015, Faculty of Engineering: Professor George Q Huang and team members - Dr. Ji Fang, Dr. Ray Y. Zhong, and Dr. Zhi Li, Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering, 'RFID-Enabled Real-Time Ubiquitous Manufacturing Platform'
  • The Final Year Project of our student Ms. Cho Yi Young, titled “Food Production Management: Tracking and Traceability”, supervised by our teaching member Dr. T.N. Wong, was awarded the first-runner-up among the three final round candidates in the MIE discipline Student Project Competition.
  • Four-person team of IMSE students, Horace, Tina, Tobey and Stephanie, won the first edition of the Louis Vuitton Supply Chain University Contest against teams from Ecole Centrale Paris, NYC Columbia, Tokyo University, Singapore Management University and Shanghai Fudan University. The aim of the contest was to solve a Louis Vuitton business-based Supply Chain case.
  • IMSE students got 1st Runner up in the 13th CILTHK Essay Competition, Student Day 2015 of The Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport in Hong Kong (CILTHK).
  • Tower Crane Simulator塔式起重機模擬器@ imseCAVE wins the Hong Kong ICT Awards 2015: Best Digital Entertainment (Interaction Design Stream) Silver Award.
