Updated Research in Intelligent Logistics: Human-Friendly Intelligent Human-Robot Working Collaboration for Industry 5.0

Abstract: The use of robots to complete tasks collaboratively with human workers has given rise to revolutionary technological advancement in manufacturing and service operations. At the same time, it has contributed to unprecedented challenges for human workers who must adapt to new working environments. The content of the presentation contains two major parts with two purposes. The first is to summarize the speaker’s up-to-date research including published papers in related leading journals. The second part is to share the speaker’s experience in conducting research on human-robot working collaboration for moving the aim and scope of Intelligent Logistics toward the epoch of Industry 5.0. The presentation is expected to stimulate our audiences, particularly for junior scholars and PhD students, to not only create innovative research works, but also better our lives by utilizing advanced robotic technologies for sustainable co-existence with robotic coworkers in a grand syncretic working environment of the epoch of Industry 5.0.

Short bio: Jiuh-Biing Sheu, received his Ph.D. degree (in Traffic Engineering) from Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of California at Irvine (UC-Irvine) in 1997, followed by serving in UC-Irvine for one year as a postdoc researcher sponsored by the PATH project of University of California at Berkeley. He holds the chair professor in Department and Graduate Institute of Business Administration, National Taiwan University, Taiwan, R,O.C. and serves as the Advisory Editor (Past Editor in Chief, 2013-2018) of Transportation Research Part E. Professor Sheu has published more than one hundred papers, including 34 single-author papers. His research areas cover Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), Intelligent Logistics, Global Supply Chain Management, Emergency Logistics, Green Supply Chain Management, and Affect Science and Cognition in Decision Science. He received Appointed Outstanding Research Award, Ministry of Science and Technology, Taiwan, R.O.C. in 2021; Outstanding Research Awards from Ministry of Science and Technology of Taiwan, R.O.C. in 2006, 2012, and 2015; and Da-You Wu Outstanding Junior Researcher Award, National Science Council, Taiwan in 2003. Furthermore, Professor Sheu is well recognized and involved in the list of World’s Top  2% Scientists by Stanford University from 2020 up to now.
